Altus Public Schools – Rivers Elementary

Rivers Elementary is a new 87,000-square-foot, ground-up campus located on Altus Air Force Base, replacing the district’s former elementary school that served both the base and the broader Altus community.

Developed through a joint partnership between Altus Public Schools and the U.S. Department of Defense, the facility includes 34 classrooms, a full basketball gymnasium, FEMA-rated safe rooms, administrative offices, a commercial kitchen, and new playground and athletic field areas.

The building’s distinctive layout, inspired by the U.S. Air Force logo, reflects its setting and mission while meeting the highest standards for energy efficiency, security, and force protection. Designed and constructed to serve both military and civilian students, Rivers Elementary provides a modern, secure, and lasting educational environment for the community.
